Big Thursday: Eight Games Dropped at Once, Here's the Damage

Your backlog is already too long. September 24 didn't get the memo.

Eight games landed the same day this week. Which ones earn a spot on Want to Play, and which ones can sit this one out?

Silent Hill: Townfall opens on a foggy island called St. Amelia. The hook is a portable CRT television that seems to know more than you do. I think that's the right call for this franchise right now.

Control Resonant picks up with Dylan Faden in a distorted Manhattan. Remedy rebuilt combat around close range fights instead of the wide-open chaos of the first game, and it pulls Control tighter into the Alan Wake side of its universe. Worth tracking even if you wait to play it.

Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age - Definitive Edition finally lands on Switch 2. Same excellent JRPG that already got the Definitive treatment once before. If you skipped it the first two times, this is your third and probably best chance.

SiN: Reloaded brings the 1998 cult shooter back through Nightdive, up to 4K and 144 frames per second, with the option to flip back to the original look whenever you want. That's a real remaster.

Shinobi: Art of Vengeance comes to Switch 2 with a sharper resolution and a Deluxe Edition stacked with extras. What it doesn't come with is an upgrade path. Owners of the original Switch version are being asked to buy it again. Why do you do this to us, Sega?

Total War: Warhammer III's Lords of the End Times expansion adds four legendary lords and eight heroes. If you already own the base game, easy add. If you don't, this isn't your entry point.

Dragon Shelter wants to be a cozy dragon farming sim. Early reviews say it plays like an alpha build wearing a 1.0 label, with sluggish movement and a town full of miserable NPCs undercutting the coziness it's going for. I'd wait on this one.

Garfield: Escape from Monday is a 3D platformer about escaping a dream world. Cute premise. I'm not convinced it needed to exist, but I could be wrong. Maybe wait to add this one to your shelf until it inevitably goes on sale.

Which one are you adding first?
