Tokyo Game Show Just Told You What To Actually Backlog
Every showcase promises fifty announcements and hands you two you'll actually remember. Tokyo Game Show wrapped this week, a day early because of a typhoon warning, and it still buried the real signal under trailers for games shipping in 2029.
So what's actually worth adding to your want-to-play list? And what can wait for a firmer date?
Start with what has a release window already. Final Fantasy Resonance lands October 22. That's five weeks out. Not a someday want-to-play. Persona 4 Revival got real dates too, February 18 on Xbox and PC, May 20 on Switch 2 for anyone waiting on the handheld version. Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember follows in March, and Modern Warfare 4 lands even sooner, October 23.
The stranger story belongs to Kojima. PHYSINT, his spy thriller starring Bill Skarsgård, just left PlayStation for Xbox. That's a big deal. OD-KNOCK, the one with Sophia Lillis and Hunter Schafer, is apparently back in production after sitting quiet for a while too.
I think the smart move is to want-to-play the near dates now and let everything landing in 2027 sit until it earns a firmer spot on the list.
What are you adding tonight? And does anyone actually believe PHYSINT ships before 2028?
