The Legend of Zelda: Hype of Nostalgia

You've replayed Ocarina of Time on an emulator, on 3DS, probably on whatever handheld was lying around during a slow week. You figure you've seen all of it.

Then Nintendo gave Link a voice.

The Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct on September 8th confirmed an Ocarina of Time remake for Switch 2, landing November 5th. What's actually new? And is it enough to get you to play it again?

You get real voice acting, a first for Ocarina of Time itself. You can jump now, and dive underwater, which is a first for a 3D Ocarina game. And yes, you hum into the Switch 2 mic and the in-game ocarina plays it back.

Comment sections lit up the way you'd expect for the game that taught a generation to save the world.

I think Nintendo knows exactly what button it's pressing here. The open question is whether 40 years of nostalgia can sell a Switch 2 on its own, or whether the new mechanics have to carry it.

Does the voice acting sound like a reason to go back, or were you already sold on the name?
